Supported Volunteering and Befriending

Wirral Mencap’s ‘Volunteering for All’ and Befriending projects help people with a learning disability meet new friends and participate more in community life.

‘Volunteering for all’  supports people to access volunteering opportunities. Our Volunteer Coordinator can help you find a volunteering role that suits your skills and interests. She can also help you find a buddy to volunteer with if you would like one. The buddy can offer guidance and mentoring support to help you develop your skills and enjoy the experience of volunteering.

The Befriending Service can help you find a new friend to go out with. Your befriender can help you join in with a new activity in your area or reach a personal goal like getting healthier!

Buddies and befrienders are volunteers; Their role is to help with motivation and reaching specific personal goals – they can not provide high level support or personal care. If you require more support then we can help you find a volunteering placement with your PA or support worker.

If you are interested in ‘Volunteering for All’ or Befriending please call Lizzie on 0151 666 1829 or email volunteer@mencapwirral.org.uk

Thank you to the P H Holt Foundation, Steel Charitable Trust, WO Street Foundation, Postcode Community Trust and Jackson Lees Solicitors for supporting this project during 2017/18.
